Benhill-Crescent Horticultural Society is an active not-for-profit society for allotment holders and gardeners, based at the Benhill Allotment site in Benhill Road, Sutton.

With origins going back to 1957, the society currently has approximately 250 members from around the borough and beyond.

Even if you’re not an allotment holder, you can become a member and take advantage of the great prices at the Trading Hut.

You can also be part of the many social events throughout the year, sharing expertise, time and fun with like-minded people. Most events are free and all members are welcome to attend.

Supporting Charity

Each year the society selects a local charity to support, benefiting others in our community: in 2009 over £800 was donated to St Raphael's Hospice, in 2010 we donated more than £660 for the Royal Marsden Hospital, in 2011  £750 was donated for Sutton’s Mentoring and Peer Support (MAPS) and in 2012 £750 was donated to Help for Heroes. In 2013 and 2014 the donations were for Orchard Hill College.  In 2015 we supported the Diamond Riding Centre for Disabled Riders in Carshalton Surrey and raised £500.  In 2016 we supported St Raphael's Hospice and raised £400.  In 2017 we supported Macmillan Cancer Support and raised £500.  In 2018 we supported JDRF and raised £500. In 2019 we supported Sutton Vision and raised £700. Owing to the cancellation of Shows and Events we continued to collect for the Diamond riding Centre and raised a fantastic £1,700.

In 2024 our choosen charity is MERU which is part of QEF Group and aim to improve the lives of disabled children, by creating new possibilities. They design and make a wide range of specialist assistive equipment.
